Ultimate Guide to Booking Your Cruise in 2021 and 2022

We know that planning a cruise for 2021 and 2022 can be very stressful so we wanted to take some of that stress off your plate and tell you everything you need to know about booking with our Ultimate Guide to booking a cruise.  We have 6 steps full of cruise booking tips that will ensure you have an amazing cruise.

Step Number One. Our first step to think about when booking a cruise for 2021 and 2022 is budget. Some questions you will want to think about are, how much do you want to spend on this trip and do you have any future cruise credits to use? Keeping in mind you’ll likely to still incur costs for things like gratuities, drinks and beverages, excursions, speciality dining and of course anything that you may want to purchase in port. Some cruise lines offer cruise deals that include wifi, drink packages and more. As a family you will want to decide what is important for you.

Step Number Two:  Now that you have your budget worked out, where do you want to go? There are lots of amazing destinations that you can pick from but keep in mind there is seasonality to each destination.  So when deciding where you want to go you want to also be aware of the time of year. When booking a Disney cruise they offer certain destinations at particular times of the year so you will want to be sure it fits with your schedule.

On to Step Number Three. When deciding which cruise line you want to sail with, think of your personality and what kind of cruise you want. Each cruise line definitely has its own personality, so are you looking to explore new countries, party at the pool or relax in the spa? Do you want more traditional cruising? Do you really want to dress up for formal nights? What type of entertainment do you want on board? Some people also like to stick with a cruise line as some have great rewards programs. When booking a carnival cruise they are known for lots of activities and good value.

For step number four, we suggest you consider what type of ship you want to go on. There are many different types of cruise ships that you can choose from for your cruise. The larger ships have all sorts of novel experiences like flowriders, simulated skydiving, bumper cars, and so much more. Smaller ships can have a much more relaxed feeling that focuses on executing key things really well and of course they have everything in-between. We are bigger fans of the more modern design of cruise ships but if you really liked the previous generation of cruise aesthetic that's totally up to you.  For us, we usually ensure it's been retrofitted within at least 10 years.

So what cabin should you pick? Well that's Step 5, so you have decided on a ship, now you will need to pick the cabin you want.  There are always lots of “sub types” of cabins but for simplicity, we’ll stick to the main cabin types.  Those are:

  • Interior stateroom

  • Oceanview stateroom

  • Balcony stateroom

  • Suites

Our final step, step 6 maybe one of the most important things,  where your cabin is going to be located on the ship.  It may seem like a small thing but there are some important considerations to take into account. We review noise, location and convenience.
