We’ve sailed a lot of lines now and had some wins and some fails. This is the stuff worth knowing before you go. Mistakes we’d rather you didn’t repeat, what to actually pack, and the dress codes that catch people out.

Some of it is specific to one line, like Norwegian’s upgrade bidding or what Celebrity expects you to wear. The rest applies wherever you’re sailing. Where the answer really does depend on your trip, we’ll say that instead of pretending there’s one rule.
