Last summer while visiting Walt Disney World I was able to get last minute tickets to the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party at Hollywood Studios. My husband is a huge Star Wars fan and I knew he would wanted to see it. I have enjoyed the dessert parties at the Magic Kingdom and was excited to try this new experience in Hollywood Studios.
It is located a short distance off the main strip in front of Star Wars launch bay which left only a short walk out to see the fireworks after enjoying all the food. There are Stormtroopers walking around and engaging with guests as well as some special character meet ups. Around the room there are different collectables and memorabilia from the different Star Wars movies including helmets, costumes and ships.
Menu and Cost
The menu consisted of fruits, cheeses, star wars themed desserts and other finger food. There were alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. The food and drink is all you care to enjoy so I treated it like a dinner. The food was fresh and there was a good selection of sweet and savoury. The main challenge was that there was extremely limited seating and only a few standing tables. This definitely dampened our experience after standing all day around the park and not to get a chance to rest our legs. The cost is $79.00 for adults and $45.00 for children aged 3-9 plus the cost of you admission ticket to the park. This gives you access to the dessert party, all the food and alcohol, and a reserved viewing area for the show.
I did enjoy the experience and the firework and laser light show was amazing (definitely worth seeing). I enjoyed the food and watching the Stormtroopers however, my husband and I didn’t get our picture taken at any of the character meet and greets because, we had found a standing table, and would have had to left it get our picture taken. I feel that if you are planning to pay for a dessert party than the Magic Kingdom one is the better option. This is because of the larger food selection with better serving utensils and real plates, being able to sit while eating and a reserved viewing area at a much busier park.
If you have ever been to the Star Wars dessert party or any of the other dessert parties I would love to hear about your experiences in the comments below. Check out our new Youtube Channel and Instagram if you want to see some more of our travels.
