The Square, Copenhagen, Denmark

An outside view of the square in denmarkThis past July my husband and I took our first trip to Copenhagen Denmark. We were staying there for a few days before we started a Baltic cruise. As we had never been to Denmark before we did a lot of searching trying to find the best hotel for us. We wanted a mid priced hotel near the tourist attractions. We decided to book The Square hotel.

Location

The Square hotel is in a great location for any one planning on site seeing. We did not need to take a cab or bus once. We walked to all the museums, parliament and even the mermaid statue. It might be a bit far for some people to walk to the mermaid statue but we enjoyed the views while walking. The Square is located right across from City Hall building and you are only a block away from Tavoli Gardens.

Food

We had a breakfast included package which was worth it. Every morning we went down and enjoyed a hot breakfast with bacon, eggs, fruit, bread, cheeses and cold cuts. It was great, we didn’t need to buy lunch because we had such a great breakfast.
There is also a bar available in the lobby, but other than that there are no restaurants in the hotel. That was not a problem for us because there are so many great restaurants to try in the area.

Rooms

Our room has a queen bed, a little couch and a table and chair. The bathroom had a shower, single sink and toilet. The room even had a little balcony. The room was rather large but the bed was awkwardly positioned in a little nook. This meant if you had to get up over night you needed to slide to the end of the bed.

Club floor

If you pay for access to the club floor you can go in and have some light snacks, water, tea, coffee, juice, pop, beer or wine. The lounge is where breakfast is served. There is lots of comfortable seating and a balcony.

Overall

The Square hotel was clean, affordable and in a great location. The breakfast was fresh and had a lot of selection. We did not like the layout of our room but I do not believe all rooms will be like that. When we return to Denmark I would definitely consider staying at The Square Hotel again.
