Royal Caribbean Changes Plans Again & Alaska Cruises are a GO!

We have some exciting cruise line news to cover this week. It is great news for Alaska as cruising is back this summer. Royal Caribbean Cruise Line has made changes to its itineraries this summer as they prepare for cruising in the United States. All that and more so be sure to check out our cruise line news today.

This is a positive cruise news story for the Alaskan tourism industry. The US house of representatives have been working to pass a bill that would allow ships to bypass Canadian ports when traveling from mainland US to Alaska. It is big cruise line news as Carnival corporation has already said that three of its brands, Carnival Cruises, Princess Cruises and Holland America Cruise are planning to offer sailings from Seattle directly to Alaska as early as this July. These will be round trip sailings and guests will need to be fully vaccinated. This cruise news update that passengers will require a vaccine is not a surprise. The CDC's requirements make it a lot easier for cruise lines that mandate vaccines.

As much as this is great cruise update for Alaska, this will be very frustrating for BC and those that rely on travel and cruises for a living. It is frustrating to see another season go by and more frustrating to know that others have been able to begin work. There is also the concern that this could become permanent. This is an important cruise news today for Vancouver and other ports in BC which rely on cruising.

There is more positive cruise line industry news for sailing from US ports. Royal Caribbean is changing its plan for the Vision of the Seas. This does mean that the Visions summer plans for Bermuda are cancelled. This is because they are preparing for sailings in the US. It does seem like every week or two we are getting new information and a step closer to seeing cruising in the United States resume. Royal Caribbean also stated that they are hearing from passengers that they would prefer more direct access to the port of departure. This cruise line news means that Royal will not be using Bermuda as a homeport this summer but does still have plans to bring its guests to the island as it has for many years. There are still many cruise lines and lots of options if you are interested in a Caribbean cruise this summer.

We hope that you liked our cruise line news today. Would you sail to Alaska this summer? What do you think about Royal Caribbean changing the itinerary for the Vision?? Are there any cruise ship news stories you would like us to cover?
