Disney's Wilderness Lodge | Resort Tour
Do you love Disney? Do you love the great outdoors? Do you enjoy relaxing in rocking chairs, enjoy nature and a crackling fireplace? If you do then Disney's Wilderness Lodge is the hotel for you. We are going to review everything you need to know for your stay and more.
The Wilderness Lodge is located in the Magic Kingdom Resort area. It's on Bay Lake in between the Contemporary Resort and Fort Wilderness. Only a short boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom, it is nice to get back quick at the end of a long day enjoying the park. Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort has the best location to the Magic Kingdom without paying Monorail hotel prices.
When it comes to theming Wilderness Lodge Disney is one of our favourites. The atmosphere celebrates American Craftsman and is inspired by turn of the century National Park lodges. When you enter the lobby you are greeted by large tepee chandeliers, 50 foot totem poles and rustic wood pillars. My favourite feature is the 82 foot fireplace with rocking chairs. The fireplace represents the 2 billion years it took for the layers of rock to form the Grand Canyon. Another unique feature is the bubbling hot springs. It starts in the lobby and then continues outdoors into the swimming pool where you can follow it along to the fire rock geyser which erupts every hour from 7am to 10pm. The Wilderness Lodge lobby is spectacular and definitely worth checking out even if you aren't staying at the resort.
A Disney's Wilderness Lodge resort tour wouldn't be complete without talking about the room options. The standard rooms come with a variety of views which affects the price of the room and there is also a club level. There is a DVC property called Boulder Ridge Villas. These rooms have a little extra space including a kitchen, which can include anything from a small kitchenette to a full kitchen, living area, and washer dryer. If you want to step it up a notch or two there are the Copper Creek Villas and Cabins. There are 26 deluxe studies that are right on the water. These are absolutely beautiful.
Disney Resorts have some special and unique dining experiences. The Wilderness Lodge does not disappoint. The quick service restaurant is the Roaring Fork where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. Whispering Canyon is the restaurant in the main lobby and you can't miss it. Geyser Point is the bar and lounge in-between the two pools. This is a great place to grab some food and enjoy the views of Bay Lake. Deluxe Disney Resorts have character dinning and you can find this one at Artist Point. Here you can enjoy dinner with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Check out our dining reviews to see where you would like to spend your money.
